The Chief Minister of Punjab, a north Indian state, is the head of the Government of Punjab. As per the Constitution of India, the Governor of Punjab is the state's de jure head, but de facto executive authority rests with the chief minister. Following elections to the Punjab Legislative Assembly, the governor usually invites the party (or coalition) with a majority of seats to form the government. The governor appoints the chief minister, whose council of ministers are collectively responsible to the assembly. Given Below is the List of all the Chief Ministers so far of Punjab State

There are total 13 lok sabha seats (parliamentary constituency) in Punjab and elected representative from each seat is called as MP or Member of Parliament. In Punjab, each lok sabha constituency has 9 assembly constituencies (vidhan sabha halke) in it and there are total 117 seats in Punjab Vidhan Sabha.The general elections in India for lok sabha seats are held after every 5 years and last elections were held in 2014. Parkash Singh Badal from Akali Dal is the current Chief Minister of Punjab, serving his fourth term in the position since 2007. He was President of the Akali Dal from 1996 to 2008.

Badal was born into a family of landowning farmers in what is now western Punjab state and earned a B.A. degree from Forman Christian College in Lahore (now in Pakistan).
